Govt given deadline to scrap Rampal project Oct 11

BAGERHAT, Sept 28 (UNB): The National Committee protect oil gas mineral resources power and ports threatened on Saturday to lead a harder movement by October 12, if the Government is not the controversial Rampal power plant project by October 11 scrap.

The five day-long March, organized by the Committee today closed the "Digraj Declaration".

ANU Mahmud, also a teacher of Jahangirnagar University, read the statement with convener engineer Sheikh MD Shahidullah on the Chair.

"The Government announced, on June 22 to pave the way for the project, but it go in vain. People the foundation stone will be to eradicate, '' he said.

The Committee started its five days long March by National Press Club in Dhaka against the proposed Rampal power plant site on Tuesday.

The National Committee leaders claimed that the Government move coal fired power plant nearby set Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove affect its climate, is to destroy the ecosystem and biodiversity.
