Miss Philippines crowned Miss World

NUSA DUA, Indonesia, Sept 28 (AFP): Miss Philippines was on Saturday, the Miss World 2013 in a glitzy finale on the Indonesian resort island of Bali under tight security after weeks of hardline Muslim protests topped.

The five other finalists, including France and Brazil for the coveted title in a competition in more than 180 countries beat aired all over the world to win Megan Young.

She you thanked the judges for the election and promised to "Always be the best Miss World".

The 23-year-old promised "me in everything that I do what I know to share and educate people, be".

The decision to hold the parade in the world's most populous Muslim country had raised hardline anger. Heavily armed police and water cannons were guarded the venue in Nusa Dua, Bali southern.

Protest against the move had taken thousands of hardliners in the streets around the country in recent weeks, and radical group of the Islamic Defender committed protests against the move on Saturday of the stage.
